Someone emailed me that they read a negative article regarding the GM and Fiat merger in the Ventura county Star newspaper http://www.staronline.com/
Below are excerpts from The Star in Ventura County (California) from an article written by John Masterson today:
The acticle is at (3/19/2000) the following website http://www.insidevc.com/business/275001.shtml

Scusi ... have you seen an
American automobile lately?
Sunday March 19, 2000
'This
is the last straw! I'm not going to take it any more!" Sitting
across the room, holding her freshly poured morning coffee, Judy knew my
early morning ritual of headline scanning.
"You're right," she said. "Gas
prices are getting ridiculous."
"No, not gas prices. General Motors and
Fiat are merging!"
Judy makes no excuses about not knowing the
difference between a Chevrolet Vega and a Fiat 1100. (I'm not sure there
are any. Both expired immediately after their warranty expired.) But
gasoline is a much more personal matter. Extra dollars for gas come
directly from the spoiled grandchild Hannah "goodie" budget.
As for me, having papa GM marry mama Fiat is,
well E unholy. I mean, where's the Pope when you need him? Will next
year's GM hot rod be a Chevrolet E Corvetti? Will an Oldsmobile E
Intrigueno E have a free pizza coupon in the owners manual?
WHILE THIS MIGHT SEEM TRIVIAL COMPARED TO OTHER ARTICLES ON THIS SITE, I STILL COULD NOT LET THIS ONE GO. I CAN UNDERSTAND ABOUT COMPANIES STAYING PURE AMERICAN COMPANIES, BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF MAKING CHEAP SARCASTIC
BIGOTRY REMARKS AT VARIOUS CULTURES.
If you feel as I do let him (or them) know.
He can be reached by phone, 805-642-0547 or e-mail, bat_masterson@mindspring.com
Thanks. Joe
